Greetings and Hallucinations

My grandfather used to always greet me with his special saying, "Greetings and Hallucinations." This week as I help my hospital prepare for a Department of Health visit, I've been tasked with preparing over 200 nurses worth of competency files and updating all our ICU nurses on the ICU delirium scale. On top of all of this I've been preparing to teach a all day seminar on intra-aortic counterpulsation therapy. I've been concentrating so hard on these things that I've been hearing balloon pump alarms in my sleep and dream of being crushed by falling stacks of competency check sheets.
Chances are that if you are a healthcare provider, you've experienced similar things. Maybe a few of you hear IV pumps or bed alarms in your sleep. Perhaps you too experience that dreaded nurse dream... The one where you get all the way to the the end of your shift and when you're giving report, you realize that you forgot a patient and he hasn't been checked on all day. Yep, we all have those sometimes.
So here's the idea, this is the place for those us experiencing healthcare hallucinations to gather, share thoughts and experiences, encourage one another, and grow in our Christian faith as we engage in our healthcare professions as ministry.
Our little group has begun reading the book "In His Image" by Dr. Paul Brand. We will be having discussions about our readings (and anything else of course) at our next face to face meeting at ProM's house. However, if you're dying to engage in diaglog before then or in between meetings, this in the place to do it! So... Greetings and hallucinations too all of you! Hope you are having a blessed week!
